I'm Alarmed!

I'm like changing into my sister or something! I go to bed late... and I am so tired in the morning, that I've been not hearing my alarms... Tonight I ought to try and get in bed before say, Midnight, so I can get out of bed without behaving like a bear coming out of hibernation.

Last night I watched Dick Van Dyke and lots of MASH with my sister while creating this Facebook album, as promised Sunday. (I'll have to link it tonight at my first class of the last quarter).

Yesterday we received our first letter from my brother! He's started talking in some military jargon and I love it! So far he's doing ok... which is good to hear! Speaking of... it's his birthday today!

I also arranged things with The Old Globe in San Diego, to get tickets to three plays for a long weekend in July, before they actually go on sale... which is good, because now I can arrange the other things with confidence! I'm seeing Rupert's "The First Wives Club", Twelfth Night and Cyrano de Bergerac (I figured I'd make the trip worth it!). This time I'm renting a car, seeing the San Diego Zoo (in the same park as the Globe), the Birch Aquarium, and The Aquarium of the Pacific (Long Beach), and possibly the Fort MacArthur Museum ... and maybe three or four other things linked from that site! Holy cow! And if the Lord wills, my brother will be training down there for his specialty, and I'll be able to visit! I LOVE San Diego! Where else can you see Rupert's play, fish and the military all in one place? LOL!

The timing is not fantastic though... the trip to North Carolina is the next week. :) And my photo show is the previous week... but all three plays are playing then... so that's good!

Photos, Photos, Photos

This is what I've been doing most of this evening, while watching Jim Brandenburg's film for the third time: A Facebook album from the road trip: fish pictures coming later since I have to get up early tomorrow.

After we got back from my Aunt's birthday party, I went for a "walk" in the park with my camera. Only 74 pictures... and I sat down and read Thor: The Last of the Sperm Whales, by McClung, in the fading sunlight. I'm a huge fan of Robert McClung's books... I religiously read Leaper: the story of an Atlantic salmon, and Vulcan: the story of a Bald eagle, when I was a kid. Thanks to the Internet... I have them now! Libraries don't seem to carry these gold nuggets of books anymore... it's a crying shame!

Catch Up

Haven't been on for a few days...

Work has been steady this week... all important events have been described, except for last night my friend took me to a Newsboys concert, and we found that the lead singer, Peter, is calling it quits after 22 years, and Michael Tait from DC Talk is taking over the role. It was very shocking, as we didn't know anything about it until they got on stage. It was hard to get used to, but by the end of the evening, and after that nice middle section of the concert where he talked about it, it was alright... still the Newsboys will never be quite the same. I had a good time though! It was great to hear some DC Talk in person! Very unexpected!

The weather here has been pretty mucky and rainy all week. I really didn't go anywhere today, except for a few errands... mailed letters to my brother (the lady at the post office asked about him - we've been frequenting the place lately), bought a bulb for my headlight and successfully installed it, and dropped by Fred Meyer for a couple things, including a new wireless mouse for my laptop (birthday money!). Otherwise, I've cleaned up my room, made sure my checkbook was in order and watched several episodes of MASH. :) It's nice to take the weekend nice and slow after last weekend! Holy cow! I was tired all week!

Guess Who I Met at Work?

Oh, only my favorite ball player of all time; Mr. Edgar Martinez.

He is retired and runs a small company that might do business with our employee store. He played 18 seasons with the Seattle Mariners, won 2 batting titles, 5 Silver Slugger awards, and was an All-Star 7 times. And he's an awfully nice guy.

I was often a DH (designated hitter) my last couple years in softball and I wore number eleven in his honor: he was my inspiration. My boss introduced me, and I was able to tell him what I practiced saying on the way over in case I met him. I thankfully didn't have to ask for an autograph, as my sister got one for me when she ran into him at the airport a few years back.

What a birthday present!

Exactly 26 Years Ago... right now.

I was born!

Yesterday I wrote my first letter to my brother, and finally got my room in a semblance of order. And we watched a few more episodes of MASH. Great show, really. Today, the ladies are taking me out for lunch to our favorite place, Coho Cafe. And tonight, Mom is making me a dinner that I got to pick. Salmon and pasta, with fresh strawberries and pineapple and red potatos. Too bad I was too tired for Jazzercise this morning! And I've been promised Bolt, and Season 2 of F-Troop! Rarely do we surprise each other in my family! LOL!

M.S.

I've been putting this off for a couple months now, but today I finally started getting this around!

I'm going to walk on Sunday April 5th for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, because a good friend of mine from the Husky Band was just recently diagnosed with it and she's even a couple years younger than me. It'll be a four-mile walk in the morning. This is the first time I've ever done fundraising like this. It means a lot more if you know someone personally involved. If you click on "View Team Roxi", I am in the picture, the furthest person to the right. It was taken at the Oregon State game in 2007.

Note: This is not a solicitation. Consider it as a note on what I've been doing today, just like any other post. If you're lead to give, that's great! But there is no expectation.

The Long Road Home

Not too long though.

Saturday night it was pounding rain outside as we watched Miss Potter, and "Chased by the Light". We were both worried about our boating adventure in the morning. It was still raining when I woke up at 8AM. We packed everything in the car, checked out, and headed to Walmart for a couple things. They happened to have a Subway there, so we got lunch, and then I noticed their breakfast menu and got my first ever omelet sandwich - and it was great! By the time we walked out, the sun had broken through and the rain had stopped!

We drove to the marina, and stopped at our fourth and final aquarium of the trip... "Undersea Adventures" right on the bay. They had one huge tank: one room surrounded by an exhibit made to look like the natural environment of Yaquina Bay. The windows were made to look like you were in the belly of a ship :) We got there right when it opened at 10, so there were only a couple people that came in after us... but the kids were great: "Wow! This is AMAZING!" and "Are we going to go to the real aquarium soon?" said without sarcasm, becasue the kid was probably 4 yrs old. LOL! It was a simple aquarium, to be sure, but they did a great job. They had two giant octopi, eels, rockfish, anenomes, starfish and many, many Dungeness crabs.

In the store above sea level, I found a stuffed halibut and instantly fell in love.

It was soon time to board for our cruise, but unfortunately, the ocean was experiencing 11 foot waves, so we couldn't go out for Gray Whale watching... which was a disappointment, but we did do seal/sea lion watching, plankton catching/observing on a microscope connected to a TV, cruising the bay, learning about oyster farms and the various fishing boats. But the best was the crabbing... I baited one of the traps, and the guy told me to kiss the bait, so I did! Hey! I've always wanted to kiss a fish! He was kidding... lol. When we came back around to pick them up about 15/20 minutes later, we had caught five Dungeness crabs, both male and female in a surprisingly short time. I got to hold one and throw it back! Much fun!

To go home, we cut across Hwy 20 through Corvallis (where my parents met) and then headed up I-5 all the way to Ballard, just in time for chruch at 7.

So ended our little journey.

Another Long One

We woke up running today... we were out the door by 8AM, went to the Yaquina Beach Park and walked around looking at shells, bull kelp, rockweed, crab shells and seagulls until 9:45. We then headed straight to the Oregon Coast Aquarium for a DELIGHTFUL three hour tour. It was a beautifully laid out aquarium, with a couple great walk through tanks, and a couple giant spider crabs (but smaller than the ones I saw in Shanghai). The seal feeding was cool too.

Without a break, we headed down the street a couple blocks to the Hatfield Marine Science Center. It's run by Oregon State University, and although it was small, it was fun... they had lots of skeletons, and lots of small tanks... and a great gift store!

Afterwards we got back on Hwy 101, and took off, heading to the Sea Lion Cave, about 35 miles south of Newport. The highway is on the coast the entire time, and we had a lovely time on each curve. The cave itself is below a 280 foot elevator shaft in the solid rock. It was loud with the lion's barking and the waves crashing. They were piled up on the rocks, climbing over each other. Even though it smelled rather stagnant with sea lion smells, I had a great time! They claim that it is the world's largest sea cave. Huh! They had great views of the ocean too!

And everywhere we visited, they had souvenir patches! Yey!

When we got back to Newport, around 5:30, we stopped off at the "Newport Cafe", and I had a toasted, tasty grilled chicken breast sandwich (with avocado) and a bowl of clam chowder. The cafe is a block away from our hotel, so we're probably going to visit it again for breakfast!

Right now, we're back at the hotel... although today it was marvelously sunny out, we are listening to the rain pound on the roof. Glad we're back! We're gonna watch Miss Potter! My artist friend has never seen it before! Will probably show up later tonight!

375 Miles Later...

We arrived in Newport!

I was kinda worried about how this weekend was going to go because of the pounding rain near Westport, WA... but it cleared up before we reached Seaside! The Seaside Aquarium was incredible, for how small it was! They had three giant pacific octopi... two wolf eels... and numerous varieties of fishes. They had a five foot long squid preserved in a glass tank, and a 28 pound lobster named Victor that had been rescued years ago and died in captivity. And besides all this, the main attraction was getting to hand feed the seals ourselves! They were so much fun! They splashed me in the face once when I was trying to take a picture. We spent an hour and a half at this little aquarium! What fun!

We did so much today! We stopped off in Westport first, walked around and saw the whale skeletons outside the maritime museum there. We stopped for gas in Astoria, OR, right across the Colombia River from Washington. After the aquarium experience, we went out on the beach for a moment as the clouds began to part and we saw a little sunshine! On our way back to the car we did a little window shopping at the carousel mall... and we stopped at Subway for a couple quick 6 inchers. On the road again for a moment (7 miles), we stopped a little past Cannon Beach, and got out there just in time to see a blazing sun starting to set. Many pictures of Haystack Rock later, we continued on our journey south, stopping at least 6 times at turnoffs to take pictures and enjoy the beautiful light. There was more lovely scenery along the way, but my memory card was maxed out... good thing I have my laptop with me! We got to Tillamook, OR, at 7:30, and there we stopped at Fred Meyer for some snack stuff. I even got a little piece of fresh Tillamook cheese, just for the novelty of eating it in Tillamook. We continued on at 8pm, and now it was dark. I ate some macaroni/shrimp salad on the way.

Both my friend and I sang loudly with Jon Foreman, so I didn't have near enough chance to feel sleepy... that, and I'm so darn excited to be on this trip. The scenery has been so lovely so far... turquoise water, mossy bright green trees, golden sunshine, green, green, green everywhere!

We arrived in Newport at 9:30PM, dumped our stuff in the hotel, and then headed to Safeway to get something my friend needed.

I so can't wait for another aquarium tomorrow! Along with the Marine Science Center, alongside it. YeeeHaaaaw!

Oh, Would You Look At How the Time Flies.

It's already the weekend! Tomorrow I'm taking off for the Oregon Coast with a friend of mine. We're going to be gone until Sunday night, but I might get a second or two with the hotel's free Wi-Fi. My goodness, this week felt like it would last forever! But I suppose that's always the case right before a trip for me.

Monday, nothing happened really... except for Zac shipping out. Work was very dull, and I had trouble focusing at work... so much so this week, that nearly every day I stayed overtime to make up for time unwisely spent during the day. I think I have too much freedom at work. And I allow my mind to wander too much... next week I'm going to work hard on staying on task all day.

Tuesday night, Mom treated my sister and I to an evening at Red Lobster! Wow! Was that an incredible dinner! I had tilapia stuffed with lobster and seafood... ! So good! And then Wednesday I pulled myself out of bed in time for Jazzercise in the morning... good thing! Because today, we had this huge BBQ/potluck for lunch at work... yummy!

I'm handling Zac being gone pretty well. It's still a little weird, having him gone, but over the two months that he was trying to ship out, we had good times together, and after the first shock, we slowly adjusted to the situation... So, although it was very hard for him... and for us too (not knowing when he was going), it definitely was good for everyone the way it worked out. I hope he is adjusting well down there... wish I knew what he was going through.

My sister and I just finished watching "Save the Last Dance" (Julia Stiles) (Zac's movie on Zac's big screen projector downstairs). He was swell and wrote down which buttons to push in order to make it work... :) Great movie, BTW... really enjoyed it.

We Seek Liberty

Forwarded from an English co-worker who is currently trying to become a US citizen; unrelated to my brother's adventure, but nicely coinciding:

“WE SEEK LIBERTY”

The spirit of liberty is the spirit which is not too sure that it is right

We have gathered here to affirm a faith, a faith in a common purpose, a common conviction, a common devotion. Some of us have chosen America as the land of our adoption; the rest have come from those who did the same. For this reason we have some right to consider ourselves a picked group, a group of those who had the courage to break from the past and brave the dangers and the loneliness of a strange land. What was the object that nerved us, or those who went before us, to this choice? We sought liberty - freedom from oppression, freedom from want, freedom to be ourselves. This then we sought; this we now believe that we are by way of winning. What do we mean when we say that first of all we seek liberty? I often wonder whether we do not rest our hopes too much upon constitutions, upon laws, and upon courts. These are false hopes; believe me, these are false hopes. Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; when it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it; no constitution, no law, no court can even do much to help it. While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it. And what is this liberty which must lie in the hearts of men and women? It is not the ruthless, the unbridled will; it is not freedom to do as one likes. That is the denial of liberty, and leads straight to its overthrow. A society in which men recognize no check upon their freedom soon becomes a society where freedom is the possession of only a savage few - as we have learned to our sorrow.

What then is the spirit of liberty? I cannot define it; I can only tell you my own faith. The spirit of liberty is the spirit which is not too sure that it is right; the spirit of liberty is the spirit which seeks to understand the minds of those men and women; the spirit of liberty is the spirit which weighs their interest alongside its own without bias; the spirit of liberty remembers that not even a sparrow falls to earth unheeded; the spirit of liberty is the spirit of him who, near two thousand years ago, taught mankind that lesson it has never learned, but has never quite forgotten - that there may be a kingdom where the least shall be heard and considered side-by-side with the greatest. And now in that spirit, that spirit of an American which has never been, and which may never be - nay, which never will be except as the conscience and courage of Americans create it - yet in the spirit of America which lies hidden in some form in the aspirations of us all; in the spirit of that America for which our young men are at this moment fighting and dying; in that spirit of liberty and of America so prosperous, and safe, and contented, we shall have failed to grasp its meaning, and shall have been truant to its promise, except as we strive to make it a signal, a beacon, a standard to which the best hopes of mankind will ever turn; In confidence that you share that belief, I now ask you to raise you hand and repeat with me this pledge:

I pledge allegiance to the flag and to the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands--One nation, Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Nine Months Ago Today...

Saturday, June 14th, 2008,

I met three, very dear friends of mine for the very first time.

Time flies!

Untitled

Yeah, I couldn't figure out what to name it.

Yesterday after work... had to work a little late because I woke up a little late...

It's been that kind of week... late to bed, early to rise makes me unhappy and late, I surmise.

And after work I was so relieved that I didn't have anything to do, that I worked on going through stuff in my room. Programs from shows I saw last year... getting them ready to be slapped in a book so I can go back and look through them later... I found a copy of the letter I wrote to Amanda Naughton... gosh! it was a pretty nice letter! If only I didn't expect her to reply.

And then our family took Dad's mom and sister and brother-in-law out to dinner at Denny's so everyone could finally say goodbye to Zac, because he leaves for recruit training tomorrow evening. (sigh) I know that I'll most likely cry, but I hope it won't be as bad as it was January 11. Gee, I still remember the date...

When we got home, we watched "The Counterfeit Traitor" with William Holden from 1961. Wow! Good movie! An American turned Swede oil businessman is coerced into spying against the Nazis for the Allies... and it gets really good!

And although I had to get up just after 7 this morning, I stayed up til midnight goofing around on Facebook. Gahhhh! When will I learn?!

My sister and I had to get up early because we needed to go pick the horses' feet before the farrier arrived at 9. It was my first time watching the farrier do the trimming and shoeing... it was very interesting.

Afterwords, it was so cold and rainy (biking got cancelled) and my fingers were pink and my toes freezing (and they were uncomfortable to begin - Roo stomped on the little toes of my right foot while I was picking his back foot - and it left a dent in my GI boots for a moment), so we left. We went over Tolt Hill into Redmond, had a fabulous lunch at our mutually favorite lunch place, Panera Bread. Then we went to Value Village (I found some amazing shoes! and a large plastic frill-necked-lizard, a species I have adored since I was a kid - holy cow! it's so cool! it's like life size!), and then Half Price Books for a quick look-around, and then Tree Top Toys, where I bought a Carnegie dinosaur. We went home for a while, and then went to Fred Meyer to get an alarm clock for me, so I can get up this week. And while we were there, we looked at the toys and I found an extremely cute stuffed horse that looked exactly like Thunderhoof! LOL! Very fun day with my sister!

Ending Thoughts Again

My last class for Winter Quarter... and my thoughts turn back to the final critique from last quarter. I remember being extremely jealous of other people's work then... and being very nervous when talking in front of the group. All this has seriously changed! I've gotten to know most of them through working together, so nervous is out. I'm not totally out of the jealous feeling, but it's different this time. I'm more confident in myself, so I am able to enjoy others work more genuinely, without worrying about how I measure up. Some of the work presented tonight was just marvelous! Very enjoyable!

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for next quarter... maybe wildlife... maybe military memorials... maybe abstract forest... we'll see!

I stayed up way late again last night/this morning. I'm very worn out and tired. I think I'll hit the hay pretty soon! Hey, why not?!

And Again...

Here it is, 1:36 am... when will I learn?

I'm gonna be wiped out before long if I keep this up... (well, there's class, and chilling out for a moment when I get home, and eating dinner, and walking the dog, and doing the dishes and taking out the garbage... and Facebook)... and it's time to sleep.

Not much to report these last two days, other than work is frustrating... (work is very much appreciated, to be sure, but not very fulfilling... it's not the type of environment I want to work at for a long-term career.)

Kind of feeling frustrated in all areas though. I'm in my "I need to move out of the house" phase, and coupled with that, I think my photography is second to many in class... my project is on a specific object, rather than an 'idea'... and I think I've restricted myself to making generic photographs. So I'm pretty sure I will switch topics for next quarter. I hope I can push myself to do something out of the ordinary - and do something that is challenging... in a good way. Starting on photographing wildlife, and making it non-generic... is very hard.

Jp

Holy Crap!

So I log on to Facebook tonight... er, this morning... just to check to see if anyone's liked my Spiffy/Bolt rendition... and I check my groups... and I find that my JBL fan club has jumped from 5 people, including character profiles for Betty Roberts and Victor Comstock...(making that 3 real people) to 29! including his wife! Holy crap!

LOL! and at the same time, being utterly embarrassed, since I have a number of, um, goofy screen shots. lol. (Jen turns red) and continues laughing.

Glad to know that other people know of his work.

Too Late Again!

Last night, as I signed off the last post, I went into my room to do the things I mentioned. And Spiffy followed me and sat down and looked up at me with those big, soft, brown eyes that melt the heart of stone... and whined. So I couldn't help but take him for a walk. :) He has me wrapped around his little paw.

It snowed again yesterday... (and this morning!)... so I might come to realize that snow isn't quite so scarce here as I thought... it's just that it has snowed more often this winter than in all the previous winters in my memory, combined.

So it was freezing cold as we went for a walk... it was partially cloudy with nearly a full moon out.

I stayed up way late (1:30 on a workday morning!) going through my room. It is so much better! (sigh of relief - it was driving me nuts) I'm glad my hours can be flexible at work... so when I woke up at the time I was supposed to be there... (I need a louder alarm)... it was no big deal. I just get to work later tonight.

So Excited!

I've just spent the entire afternoon working on my bird photos in Photoshop! Much improvement! And some decisions made! After this week (final week of the second quarter) I'll post them on Facebook.

Speaking of Facebook, I became a fan of Mr. Brandenburg there,
and found a link to the exhibit.

I started out today, again, rather late, as it's DST and all that... combined with a very fun (and late) chat. What can be more fun than talking about photography with very dear friends who also happen to adore your favorite TV show? (Jen thinks hard, but can't come up with much)

So, as it's... whoops! 8 pm already! I think I need to spend some time studying the Bible and thanking the Lord... and then cleaning up my room. It's becoming a natural disaster in there.

Blessings for this, another week,
Jp

What in the World?

Snow again! If that doesn't beat all!
Poor little flower shoots, ready for Spring!

Friday I had a terrible dentist's appointment... just the regular 6 mo. job. But they starting out by probing my gums, seeing how far they've receded. And they're not in all that great of shape, partly due to the business of my schedule these last few months. And so, she tried to be nice, but everything she did rubbed me the wrong way. I think I was surprised/upset at finding this out. I'm usually okay with her... she's been doing my teeth practically my whole life. Another factor was how sunny it was outside, combined with how many things I was dying to go do. At least it's only two hours a year... plus another half-hour this year since I have a tiny cavity. Darn!

So that afternoon, Mom suggested we go out to a movie, so she, Dad and I went to see Clint Eastwood's new movie 'Gran Torino'... and I liked it. The ending even surprised me! I've never seen Clint in the actual theater before... LOL.

I did a lot more work cleaning out my old laptop and filling up this one. My parents are going to use my old one, so it'll still be around. Today I loaded my old Office program from 2003... yey! I don't need to buy it again!, Photoshop, and the DNG converter from Adobe. Along with sorting out all my pictures from my external hard drives and making sure there were copies to go around. Phew!

And then I went on a little shopping trip to Fred Meyer to update some clothes for work. Very quick and satisfying. Yey! again. I then stopped off at Value Village to donate some old ones, and then visited Shuck's Auto Supply for new wiper blades.

So, I'm going to work on cleaning up one of my negative scans from Tuesday in Photoshop. And maybe try and decide what prints I want to show on Thursday for the final class of our second of three quarters. Next time, it will be the exhibition in the UW Medical Center. Yey!

Starting, and Going Home

My first five minutes on my new Acer laptop... and here I am.
OH MY GOSH this is cool.

This brand-spanking new machine has Windows Vista already set up! Instillation was very easy. The keyboard is slightly curved, the keys have a nice, crisp click to them, it's running smoothly, the mouse pad has a very quick response, and it comes with a built-in webcam - like I'll ever use it... but it is all quite seriously cool.

I need to set up some browsing favorites, and for goodness sake, download a picture or two or a thousand, and photoshop, and chatzilla, and... I'm not sure. But before I do all that, I think I'll go online and find a copy of the book by the photographer that we watched tonight in class. He lives in my beautiful boundary waters of Northern Minnesota. I was simply transported to see his pictures, and the film, called "Chasing the Light". Jim Brandenburg is his name... I'm not getting Flash Player to install correctly in order to see his website... is there something I need to do?

[I had to close my browser! Duh! So I've been to his site, and he has an exhibit going on now in Norman, OK at the Sam Noble Museum through April 12. Small world.]

Anyways, I actually cried at times during the film, because I understood how he described the place. And because the call of the common loon will always make me feel very lonely, nostalgic and wanting to get on an airplane bound for Duluth. In fact, the thought of just continuing east on the freeway occurred to me as I was crossing the bridge, coming home tonight.

Yes, so house-sitting is over... it was short this time. Sammy was a cute little doll, like always. Even when she woke me up a half-hour before wake up time this morning. Ah, well.

The class loved my fuzzy forest pictures. They seem as if they are photographic paintings... and I love it! I had many more than I had time to print tonight, but that's okay. I need to go horseback riding some more this weekend.

Another Day or Two

I don't know if these are at all entertaining to read, but I certainly enjoy logging the events of the day. It's great to go back and read...

So, I'm getting frustrated at work, because there's a big issue with how we need to keep careful track of how much time we spend on certain tasks. I understand why, but it's driving me up the wall. And I know I get too excited about things when I have to fix other people's errors or when I feel rushed... I think it's a patience issue. I'm awfully terrible with practicing patience.

2 Peter says that in being a Christian, I need to "add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;" (and it goes on...) "And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity." My goodness! It's a good thing I don't have to rely on my own self to do all this! I'd be throwing in the towel... a long time ago. I need to take a deep breath and rely on God to help me be patient. Lord knows, I need it. Charity must be pretty darn cool if you have to go through all those things to finally add it... wow. Whenever I read this I keep on thinking the list will stop at godliness. Huh! Surprised again and again!

After class last night I went out to Ivar's in Bellevue before getting home. It was 10 minutes before it closed, but the guy was really nice and kept the place open for me. To unwind, once I got to the house, I stuck in "Road to Utopia" for a half-hour before hitting the sack at 11. LOL! I love Bing and Bob!

Tonight after dinner, we watched "I Deal In Danger", about an American double agent in Germany... what could be more intriguing? LOL! The music made it sound exactly like the old Mission:Impossible shows, since the same guy did it. It was fun to watch, and the good guy made it! Afterwords, we watched a couple of M.A.S.H. episodes. And then I took my own poor, neglected puppy on a walk in the cool brisk wind. Cloudy, but the moon poked through.

I am going to head over to Bellevue now, for this, the last night of house-sitting. It's been a little wild this week, but interesting at least.

'Night.

Discoveries!

We learned to scan old film negatives tonight... so class has been a trip back to see Minnesota from 1998, Spiffy when he was a puppy in 2003, BCC softball in 2002, friends in 2001... so exciting to see these in large format for the first time! (with high definition scanners... :)

And then I showed my fuzzy forest pictures to my teacher (via my Facebook album) and he said "OMG" and thinks that I should continue pursuing taking pictures of the forest from horseback for my final project. LOL!!!!

So much fun! And surprising! Lord, I love photography!

Is it time for bed yet?

(grin)

I actually did rather well last night, even though I started out feeling a little irritated... talking to my sister and doing my photo stuff (converting, selecting images) calmed me down and I went to bed around 11. Sammy only woke me up once again, but this time she actually needed to go outside. And I was a little more prepared to wake up in the morning this time.

At lunchtime (at home), I killed dad in Backgammon, like usual, and then enjoyed a few moments with mom as I prepared to go straight from school to house-sitting tonight. Back at work after lunch, I had to deal with slow working computer programs all afternoon. Sigh. Almost time to leave...

Gee, my back is tired from biking this weekend!

Adventures

Gee, I was tired! Sunday I slept in til Noon! And then all of a sudden the family came over and we had lunch. After working on my budget for a while, I visited with my sister and her friend who had come over for a quick tutoring session from my other sister. Philosophy can be fun!

Later, as we were watching Enchanted, I realized I was going to be a little late to pick up my friend for going to her church... so I amassed everything I needed for the evening and this morning in roughly 2 minutes, as I was starting house-sitting in Bellevue and wanted to just go there after church. I ate dinner and got gas all in a total of 15 minutes and headed off to pick her up. And we made it in time...

It was fun to see Sammy the beagle and Muffin the cat (whom I often mistake for Mittens) again. Last time I did, it was right before I went to China. And Sammy only woke me up once! Yey! It'll only last through Wednesday night/Thursday morning though.
