Oh, only my favorite ball player of all time; Mr. Edgar Martinez.
He is retired and runs a small company that might do business with our employee store. He played 18 seasons with the Seattle Mariners, won 2 batting titles, 5 Silver Slugger awards, and was an All-Star 7 times. And he's an awfully nice guy.
I was often a DH (designated hitter) my last couple years in softball and I wore number eleven in his honor: he was my inspiration. My boss introduced me, and I was able to tell him what I practiced saying on the way over in case I met him. I thankfully didn't have to ask for an autograph, as my sister got one for me when she ran into him at the airport a few years back.
What a birthday present!
