Here I am catching up with the week again... I never do post at night.
Both Wednesday night and Thursday night I read chapters in the B-J's manual... all about ship nomenclature, design, types, functions and personnel assignments. And ever since Monday, I've started this diet that my brother used before he went in the Marines. So far it's just veggies (mostly made into a very healthy soup - that needs lots of spices) and fruits, besides Tuesday night with a baked potato and tonight and tomorrow, where it finally allows for beef. Last night after going through half of my bowl of soup and a bit of brussel sprouts, zucchini and avocado, I just stared at my bowl and put it in the fridge for today. Yikes! That's a lot of veggies. I've been doing mostly alright though because I only have one bowl at meals, and I don't eat breakfast. Others I know who have done this eat way too much of that soup! Goodness, it's been hard! My coworkers just got out my favorite fall candy on Monday... candy corn. And mom has been baking cookies all week long for the conference tonight and tomorrow. It's a darned good thing I can feel the results. I weighed myself on our extremely unreliable scale, and it looks like I've already lost 5 lbs. - we'll see how it goes. I'm feeling much thinner, that's for sure.
But along with all this, I have my doubts about the future. How dumb is it to quit your job in the middle of a recession? I have zero guarantees of finding one after the service, but a lot of the point of all this is to use the GI bill for either a master's degree in library science or (how 'bout this for random?) a band instrument repair tech. school. Maybe both? They pay for school and living costs for several years, and both of these are short programs. Okay, I'm going to stop second-guessing myself, trust in the Lord for all providence, serve the country and change my profession. Enough with being scared!
This was all running through my mind as I got up and did Jazzercise this morning and then came home and took a shower before work. I snacked on leftover zucchini for a post-workout snack on the way here. LOL
Wow, (rumble) I'm hungry!

Stormy Weather
Well, this week we've been back to cloudy and overcast with degrees in the 60's. Of course, that was right after I got new Capri pants on Sunday (which was when it was still warm :) I'm not complaining by any means... I really enjoy the cool much better than the hot.
Other than that, this week I've been just beside myself thinking about the future, being uncertain, and wishing I could just decide about everything all at once and get it over with. I had a thought again about being a band instrument repairman. That would be something else I could do at a University somewhere... maybe supplemental to librarianship... maybe instead. Hanging out with a university marching band would be loads of fun. I remember the guy at the UW was my first official band person I met when I borrowed a mellophone to practice over the summer before I tried out. He was awfully nice.
As for storms, my dad is driving me nuts, treating me like a little kid, and generally making me want to throw up my hands and get the heck out of the house (even though I love being there). The general problem is that he really doesn't care what I think about anything. Everything has to be "happy" or "his way" all the time, even if it isn't.
And then there's the Photography show next week... I know I will really enjoy it, but I wish I didn't have to wait for it to come. With that and my pair of vacations coming up, right now is just waiting, waiting, waiting. How do you 'live for today' when next week(s) promises to be so much better?

Yesterday
Tuesday, May 19th:
I did nearly one task at work yesterday, catching up with the paperwork end of our rejected hardware, but it sure kept me busy!
First letter from Zac in quite a while... he'll graduate in a mere three weeks! YAY!!!!
Gee, the rain just kept pouring down in torrents! I actually got wet between leaving my class and getting in my car. It was what my Grandpa refers to as "crooked" rain... where it comes at you at an angle. We only did two things in Photoshop: Web Galleries and Lens Correction, and then the teacher let us go an hour early.
The sun poked out of the clouds to the west as it was going down. Overhead was solid rain, and nearly the entire world was gray. But with the combination of soaked streets and bright rays from the west, there was a dreamlike atmosphere to the world as I drove home. It seemed like I was driving on sheets of silver.
Upon arriving home, we watched a couple MASH's and then I worked some more on a little project that might become published on a possible future website of mine someday... hmm.
I really have awful self-motivation when it comes to getting out of bed some mornings... nevertheless, here I am at work.

My Favorite Things
For reasons that two people know of, I've had 'My Favorite Things' going through my head for a couple days now... and this is what I got:
My Favorite Things
Sunshine and Fridays and Victor and Betty
Lions and Fishies and Horses and Mooseys
Birdies that sit on phone wires and sing
These are a few of my favorite things'
Pictures and music and movies and books
Forests with flowers and swift, quiet brooks
The Army and Navy as well as Marines
These are a few of my favorite things.
Telling bad jokes about science fiction
Living with family dispite all the friction
Loving the Lord and the joy that it brings
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bites, when the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad
Until Next Time,
Jp
