Sunday, being Duty Day, was taken up almost entirely with the Navy, but for small group in the evening where we had delicious pasta with steak chili or white garlic sauce, decaf coffee (that made me miss my Darling), and some fudge. I had small portions of all of these since my weigh-in was the next morning. Laugh if you will... it made no difference in my passing results. :)
Monday after class (and after a brief nap), I decided to go archery shooting for a little bit to try out my new bow. It has a louder twang than my old one, and the string is a tiny bit thicker (maybe because that's new too), but it works just fine. The range had pictures of animals as targets, and I'm sorry to say I killed a gopher or two, along with a bear. When I got home, I mailed a surprise to Meg from the Free Shelf at the library, then I went for a walk to Tio Carlos for the first time in a long time and had a wonderful feast. Yay! I started Clear and Present Danger when I returned, but only watched the first hour and a half. I was tired, and it was only a bit over half done.
Tuesday after class I had my favorite from Oggi's Pizza, a supreme flatbread, and back at home I finished up the rest of the movie, starting with the famous computer scene where Jack steals Ritter's secret files. Got to love those old computers! I then volunteered an hour at the library (doing only part of the DVDs). Watched the last episode of Foyle's War (season two), then was able to talk to my parents for a good long time before calling my sweetheart.
Today I worked out after class (in my civies!) since our PT was cancelled this morning! That helped my mild sore throat a lot, to sleep in an extra couple hours. Had a couple eggs quickly before rushing off to class at 7am. I again tried to donate blood, but my iron was just a hare shy of the "12.5" mark, whatever that means. Must have been from my strange pre-weigh-in diet. The HM told me I should eat more meat... so I took that as a free license to have a huge meat-full lunch. A burger at Five Guys and a half chicken sandwich at Panera. I was rather hungry!
Straight from there I got on I-8 for a drive out to Christina's house as she, Kristin, Selassie and I watched the BBC version of Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Lots of fun! Then I swung by the library on my way home and ended up spending a good couple hours there with the DVDs, audiobooks, and new books. A grand day, indeed.

Still Less
Today I woke up a bit earlier... I think around 9 or so. Had time to do breakfast and a shower and a few other things before I met the ladies from my ex-work at Coho Cafe for another birthday! This time it was Jeanne, the boss. It's wonderful to see them again, again! Might not get another time before I head off, so it was great!
Then I mailed the last sets of pictures to family and then stopped by our sporting goods store for a few things... new shoes, new backpack... very needed.
But when I got home I went into a frenzy, cleaning out my room, going through lots of drawers and my closet to get rid of clothes and things I don't need. For instance, a bunch of my pants were size 14, but I'm between size 10 and 12 now. And I had way more than I could ever wear. And then it got to be way past dinner time, I was doing this so much, that Mom took me out to our favorite Mexican place for something good to eat.
And since returning, I've packed for a two-week trip! Wheeeeee!

Just Sleepin' and Runnin'
Woke up pretty late today, and then realized I was meeting the ladies from work in an hour and a half for lunch at a seafood place in downtown Kirkland (the Crab Cracker). And then I realized that it was going to be close getting to my Navy workout... (I ended up making it with 5 minutes to spare!). I had a crab & shrimp louie salad, which was delicious and light enough to eat right before a workout! :) Oh, it was so wonderful to see everyone again! We caught up a little and enjoyed each other's company for over an hour.
The Navy wore me out today! Thomason, the recruit leading the workout, had brought hand-weights, and we first ran a mile with them, and then a mile without them, and then we exercised with them... lunges, shoulder circuits, etc. And it lasted an hour & 45 min. Ouch!
Upon returning home I did a good bit of sleeping after a quick shower and dinner, and I have to say, I'm still pretty wiped out. :)

Dear Friends and Good Food
My friend Julie was free Wednesday night. She's taking off Friday for her last two semesters of her degree from a college in Florida. It was much like what we did our last time together last year... played cards, had dinner, went to B&N for her to pick up a book for the flight. Oh, did we laugh and talk... I think I was a little slap happy... and it was very fun. I had come directly from a long workday (and had to sit in traffic a bit to get to her house) , so I was pretty tired. On the other hand, I rarely find it difficult to be silly with Julie. :) What a dear friend! And then back at home I had a very good talk with Mike... both a serious and a silly one. What a dear friend you are!
I found that in staying up late, I was able to get up easier than I had been able to all week (when I tried to get to bed an hour or more earlier than normal). I suppose my body is on some sort of clock, and I wasn't helping anything by messing up the schedule.
Today we had a celebratory lunch at work... for being the best department at our plant for straightening up our area and doing the most process improvement. We had Thai food... it was really quite tasty! I had the "special" which was a noodle dish, rice and very mild green curry sauce with chicken, soup and some egg rolls. Very nice... along with having a fun time with my coworkers. Goodness, we can be funny sometimes! And our youngest member of our team is leaving in a couple weeks... that will be sad.
Tonight we watched 'My Man Godfrey'... and I loved Mr. Powell, but the movie itself was a little odd. Strange storyline, and an off-kilter ending.
Wow, it's time for bed now. 'Night, night.

One More Day
It wasn't as hard to get out of bed this morning as I thought it was going to be. I was tired, of course, but I've been going at it rather well all day. I haven't been drearily tired until just about now... :)
It was my coworker Nicole's birthday today... we went out to Coho's again, and I had the same as Tavia... a halibut sandwich with grilled onions and tomatoes and yummy sauce! and I had a salad instead of fries and a cup of my very favorite seafood bisque. Sigh. So good.
On the way back to work we were talking about our experiences with road rage... Nicole's boyfriend has had trouble getting to anxious about bad drivers in the past (once when I rode with him and Nicole over to Seattle after work for band in 2007) and she recalled that after he had yelled rather colorful language at someone who had cut him off, I commented that the other driver was indeed something of "a diddle-head". We all had a grand laugh... I had forgotten that had happened... lol.
Gosh, after work and a bite to eat, Mom had to go pick up Meg from her teaching job in Auburn (45 minutes away) because she can't drive with the new meds she has to take for her ear infection, so I volunteered to go along with her. This allowed us to bypass tons of traffic in Bellevue and Renton, so I'm glad I did. It ended up taking us two whole hours to pick everyone up and get home again. What an evening! And I did enjoy talking with Mom all alone on the way down... very nice indeed.
I think it's time for bed pretty soon!

Fun in the Sun
It's cooled off now, but earlier today it must have been in the high 80's.
After work the girls and I went out to our favorite spot to eat, Coho Cafe in Redmond, to celebrate and say goodbye to a coworker who was retiring after 19 years in the office. We sat outside in the brilliant sunshine (my face is already a little red now), sipped a little wine and talked for a long time while our food was coming. It was a busy day for them. I found that I actually liked the wine... for the first time in my life. It was a very light Chardonnay. I just tasted it though, as I was more interested in my strawberry lemonade. I had light, Mediterranean chicken tacos and a seafood bisque... my staples at this place. Hey, once you find something you like... why bother with anything else?
I put more of those patches on my curtain today... 9 from different places I've been with the band. And in the middle of that, Dad had the TV on and from all the way back in my room I recognized the sounds of softball. And I was right: it was the 5th inning of the UW's second game of the series. They beat Arizona State 1 to 0 in the bottom of the 8th inning (that's an extra inning game for softball, as they usually only play 7). It was a nail-biter! The pitcher I mentioned earlier was pitching (and was all she was cracked up to be - allowing only 2 hits and no walks the whole game), there were spectacular plays, and in the end, we got a base hit with two outs and a runner on first and third... it just doesn't get any better than that!
I just returned from a walk with the dog... I think it might be time for a little Phase 10...

Sunday (that's today)
I woke up without an alarm! Oh My! So far it's been a nice relaxing day.
Church was great and Mom came with me today! She usually goes somewhere else. We then brought Subway home for lunch, along with a few avocados. Mmmm! And we're having MORE SNOW! It's not on the roads yet, but for around here, this is way more than normal. It's 34 outside, so it probably won't stay long.
I think I'm going to go put my room back together.
[So he left a minute ago at 6:23 pm. I'm doing much better this time... everything was much quieter and calmer than last time. And it helped that we already went through a "last time". It wasn't a shock anymore... The couple extra weeks we had with him were certainly nice. I wish him strength, discipline and Godspeed as he goes on this mighty adventure. Blessings to you, my friend. Hello Again
Too many things to do... so little time.
This was the final exam for the history side of class (which was so easy and fun!), and tomorrow is the final critique of all our good photos that we printed this quarter. And then I won't have class until January 13th! My goodness, I'm going to miss it, I already know! Carla told us a little about next quarter's class, where we will work with computers and printers. There are new textbooks to buy and memory to find... and she said that the UW has state-of-the-art negative and print scanners... so I can finally make all my important film pictures digital! YEY!!!!!
I started today off by sleeping in all the way to 7:45! Yeah! It's an hour and a half later than regular days at least. I then made myself a full bowl of oatmeal and a couple of scrambled eggs for a very rare weekday breakfast. This was because today I took a day of paid Personal Time Off (what we call PTO) from work to hang out with my sister as she proctored her final exam for her last class at Green River College in Kent. Writing fanfiction was easy in a quiet room full of students taking an essay test - too bad I don't get the opportunity more often. :) We then went to lunch together, at a place called Panera Bread. They have wonderful sandwiches and salads and soups... all on their own freshly baked bread (sort of a bread-lover's dream - mmm!). For lunch, I had half an Italian sandwich with a chicken noodle soup in a sourdough bread bowl! Wowsers!
When we got home (around 1:30) I helped mom bring in the groceries she bought and then headed out to do my Christmas shopping. I got it mostly all done! And since none of my family ever reads my blog... they think it's sort of silly... I got a great cold weather digital camo shirt for my brother, a little toy camo helmet for my nephew, a couple Christmas CD's for my dad's birthday today, both of the things I needed for the gift exchanges at work, and a few odds and ends. While at the surplus store in Woodinville, I found some WWII camo print pants. So I got them for myself because they were so darn cool. It's a brand new pair, printed on a modern style cut of BDU pants. :) I'm sort of geeky. I think I'll probably wear them if I go riding on Friday.
I'm very grateful for a day in the middle of the week to get things done! What a blessing! It was sort of a last minute choice to take it off, so it made it even that much more fun.
Tonight we hung the popcorn on the tree that we strung on Sunday when we watched our classic popcorn stringing movie: The Pink Panther Returns. LOL! Lots of fun memories! And we also put on the ornaments tonight to finish the job. This year we decided against doing the tinsel, and I don't mind so much.

So much so, that I was bummed I had to drive on Tuesday morning. And worried about driving home from class that night... but staying awake turned out not to be an issue.
