Poor Robbie didn't make it. He died between 8 and 9 this morning, according to my parents. Dad was the last to see him, and he said he looked fine, standing up. When I peeked in this morning around 10, it looked like he had simply fallen over. He must have been pretty sick or something. At least it looks like it happened peacefully.

When birds start acting sick, they are immediately thrown out of the flock, as a sick bird weakens the whole, so they cover up their illness as much as they can. This is something that drives bird owners mad, since often by the time your bird acts sick and you take him to the vet, he's already too far gone. The parent birds probably could tell and pushed him out of the nest. Sad from our POV.
