Life as a Couch Potato

With the exception of Saturday, the last week (since I got back from North Carolina) has been very busy... very few hours at home after work, and Duty every three days...doesn't allow for much. More often than not I simply ate dinner at home and watched something (usually many things) on Netflix. I recently started watching Midsomer Murders... a Dick Van Dyke episode here and there... a Foyle's War or two... a documentary about Denali National Park... and a tour of New England with Stephen Fry. And I also enjoyed discs in the mail... The Nine Tailors, The Road to Bali, and Blazing Saddles just yesterday. But besides all that, I created a blog for my Darling's music picks every week and did some shopping online.

Saturday was a different story though... I slept in so long! Had a nice big breakfast, and later on I drove over to Newport News to the model store Hobbytown USA. I picked up supplies for the model destroyer I'm going to build. I think it was that afternoon when I made tacos for dinner... and that lasted me for a few days!

I managed to play a little on the cello I rented the other day... and I got my laundry done the other night when the weather turned. Suddenly it was feeling like fall with the chilly wind and cloudy skies every now and then. Read some more in Neptune's Inferno in my car to escape the network television played inside while my clothes washed and dried. Yesterday it was spaghetti for dinner at home and I even cleaned up the kitchen afterwords.

It sure was nice to relax when I could this last week; I really needed it.

Tidbits

After stopping at Panera Bread for a quiche, I did make it to church this morning, and I was glad. It was good; message was about courage as exemplified by Nehemiah's rebuilding of Jerusalem.

Other than that, I watched "How to Marry a Millionaire" and did more sewing on my other cover. What a riot of a movie!

And as I was just sending a couple pics from Tuscarora to Tuscarora, as requested, I found out they have a news blog with the same style as my Navy Times. :)

PS... I finished out the evening by watching "Now, Voyager", from 1942 with Bette Davis and Paul Henried. It was a wonderful bit of drama, not asking for the moon, indeed. I loved it.

Another Little Project

For most of Sunday and a bit of today I've been writing down and adding pictures to my journal from my ROTC experience from 2005 at the University of Washington. I've updated the language and added some things that I had left out... I had written it to kill time on airplane flights the year after it happened. :)

Lazy Day

It was pretty relaxing. I went to Denny's for breakfast, for the first time in a while... and they still remembered me, and what I like to order. :)

Took a little trip to Fry's Electronics to get a USB car charger. Got a disc drive cleaner, an audio jack splitter, new headphones, and a thingy that lets you play your music over the radio. Am I getting too technical?

Had lunch back in my room, created a new blog for the wedding, had dinner at the galley, talked with Mom & Dad, and then Meg... and then got on chat.

PS... and I found out of Facebook that my Huskies beat Hawai'i today. It was the return trip for the time we visited there in December 2007... the game I went to, where we started off so wonderfully, and then choked in the end. They held on well this time. :)

Stopped to Notice

After noticing I've posted 650 times, and after looking at all the pictures I've ever posted by clicking on the label below the last post, I've done a little inventorying and tidying. Some labels said "pictures" and others "picture"... some said "trips" and others "trip"... etc. So I fixed them all, then linked those searches under "Other Blogs" for quick reference. They are the more interesting ones anyway.

In wandering around, I clicked on the "Stats" tab in editing mode and found I have had visitors from nine countries around the world (not including the US), all in the last year! Welcome, viewers! I had no idea!

Also, from 2008 there's the "where-I've-been" map... So I tried it out again...
.

You can probably tell what's included on my list of places to see someday... :)

Thanks for reading,

Another Place to Visit

...when you think of it.

Jen's Navy Times

War's Over!

Hey, it's time to celebrate, even if they don't care in Times Square.

Thanks for a walk back in time, Mike! And congratulations on finishing
a 6+ year project!

And I just got a call from Mike, my recruiter, about two minutes ago: No records on me at the processing station! So preliminarily, I am good to go! Wheeeeee :)

just notes

Today I went to Jazzercise again - it's been kinda hard to get up on Mondays - and Mary was teaching, replacing Sarah for a day. The leg and ab routines were killers.

I took the doggie on a walk tonight - something I haven't done in a long time. When I got back, Mom trimmed my hair for me - it was getting a little out of control.

Pardon my boring notes... I love recording everything. It's like writing a journal, only creatively. This is the only journal that I've been faithful in writing in for more than three days. Hence, my skepticism in my very first post. LOL
