That's a Win

Officially, my Huskies beat my sister's Cougars 38-21 (that's 2 touchdowns and a field goal difference). It was a bit of a nail-biter into the fourth quarter, which makes for a great game, especially when your team wins.

After getting back yesterday afternoon, I unpacked, blogged, did photos on FB, had another lunch at Tio Carlos down the street, bought some milk & juice... and watched pretty much all of the Husky game for the first time this season. And it was a fun one.

Fun Days!

The road in front of my house was still pretty hard to navigate on Saturday night when my friend came over. It is only just starting to bare the asphalt only today. I am really adoring having an all-wheel drive car - it's making life easier this winter!

Since my friend and I stayed up late, we slept in too, and spent the entire, glorious day together. My sister's family comes over on Sundays, so, after an excursion in the snow, we entertained my niece and nephew by wrestling and rolling around with them on the living room floor! So much fun! And exhausting! By then, it was time to take my friend back to her house in Seattle, but I went in and stayed to play games like Spite&Malice and Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego? until it was very late.

Monday was... very unlike Mondays! Thanks to vacation! I slept in a bunch, and then my sister and I went to BCC for her to sign some papers (and we reminisced with old friends, like our old co-worker in the mail room and one of my sister's profs - my old profs weren't in). After that, we headed for Crossroads Mall where we spent some time in Half Price Books, where I got a "then & now" book on London, mostly for the photography but also for the history of all of London's famous streets & buildings. I also picked up the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum Story of Flight (300 pgs with lots of beautiful pics). We then dropped in on Uncle's Games and I got two very nice puzzles, and then we had a little snack, Greek style at The Mediterranean Grill.

We arrived back home around four pm, and I immediately realized that I was missing the first part of my brother's "Band of Brothers" marathon when I saw his friend's car parked outside. Thankfully, they had only got into the second episode (which I had just seen on the plane this summer), so by the time I finished my Christmas avocado with my sister, I joined in on part three of the ten part (and hour) miniseries. There were seven guys over, so I had to start out on the floor. The show was so well done, I hardly noticed the eight hours as they went by. I had seen bits and pieces of most of the episodes before, but only on TV. This was my first time through the whole thing. It is a great experience if done that way. Wow!

Today I had planned on doing just reading and writing, but that will have to wait for tomorrow. The snow had melted enough for my sister and I to head out to Carnation for some belated Christmas and horseback riding. We had a good time, but it was very snowy and wet all over the trail and we didn't get very far. But it was good to do horsey stuff again and see our friends. Our Christmas gift from our Aunt and Uncle was a trip to Outback Steakhouse, so that I just returned from. They have an excellent Tilapia and Crab dish that is just delightful!

On to tomorrow after a little "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" with my siblings! Ah, vacation!

What I've Been Up To

Well, it is difficult trying to come up with interesting titles for these things...

My sister wasn't feeling well yesterday, so I went riding alone. Last time I tried taking Roo out into the woods alone he started bucking like there was no tomorrow... he's sort of attached to Molly and gets worried if they are separated. So when I took him out to pick his feet before I tacked him up, he started flipping out. I just spoke softly until he settled down (and his front legs stopped shaking) and was able to do everything with relative ease. I even gave him a bite of hay between the 2nd and 3rd foot for being so good. We didn't go far, but he was still pretty jumpy. He did a lot of half prancing/ half trotting when I wanted him to walk (it was pretty slippery out because of all the rain we've had here lately) and when I wanted him to go on instead of turning to the right to go back to the pasture, he did a little, tiny hoppy bucking, but that was nothing compared to the rollercoaster I rode a while ago when I lost my stirrups and figured out how to hang on with my thighs. There's nothing like a good buck for learning how to hang on. :) After that happened, I don't really fear anything about riding. The experience helped me out a lot with self-confidence in more ways than just riding. But that was then, this is now...

We had a nice 1/2 hour ride or so, and then I went back to hearth and home. My sister was watching M.A.S.H. on TV, so I sat down with her. Afterwards, Dad took her and I and my Mom out to Denny's where I had a lovely western burger. Very yummy. Back again at home, we watched the last half of the new "Freaky Friday" (and loved Dina Spybey - always will - Dad said something like 'Hey! Isn't that whats-her-name from Remember WENN?') LOL! Very fun times. And then I went and worked on putting recent pictures in appropriate folders on my laptop (it was getting out of control again) and when I came back out they were watching "A Shot in the Dark". I sat down and watched too, but after it was over, I fell asleep on the couch. I remember Mom putting a blanket on me and and asking if I wanted a certain light off or on... well then I woke up at 7:15 this morning... still in my jeans and sweatshirt. Also very fun!

Today I spent way too much time working on Betty's character profile/walk-through. Uh..I know it's kinda silly, but it is a ton of fun to go through and think about everything important that happened. I don't know if anyone will ever read it (or if I will ever finish! LOL), but it's fun to write. I'm also thinking about what I want the website to look like, and I hope I can come up with a good hosting site and everything else that's involved. Hmm...

But after I tore myself away from that... around the "Close Quarters" - "FBI" time frame, I picked up my camera and finished all my class assignments because there was some nice light outside. It really was nice today after it stopped raining. The assignment from this week was still life, using blacks and whites only in order to understand the camera's meter. I set up scenes with some of the many toy horses we have around here and I think it looked pretty good.

Tonight I have a party to go to for my uncle's birthday. We're leaving here around 6:30, but I should return by 9 PM at the latest. We'll see!
